Tahiti (타히티) was a girl group under DreamStar Entertainment. Originally as six, they debuted on July 24, 2012 with the digital single "Tonight".

Career[]

Pre-debut[]

Tahiti launched a sitcom-style reality program called Ta-Dah! It's Tahiti with their original line-up. The show began broadcasting on April 14, 2012 and was picked up by television stations in South Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore.

Following the ending of Ta-Dah! It's Tahiti, it was announced that Ari and Hanhee had left the group and would be replaced by Keezy and Yeeun.

2012–2013: Debut with "Tonight", line-up changes, "Hasta Luego" and Five Beats of Hearts[]

On July 24, 2012, Tahiti officially debuted with the digital single "Tonight". The group consisted of six members including Minjae, Jungbin, EJ, Keezy, Yeeun and Jisoo.

Later in the same year, EJ, Keezy and Yeeun left the group and were replaced by Ari, who initially left during their pre-debut era, as well as new members Miso and Jin. The new line-up made their comeback with the release of their second digital single "Hasta Luego" on November 1, 2012.

On July 23, 2013, the group released their first mini album Five Beats of Hearts along with its title track "Love Sick". Jin did not participate in the comeback although she was still a member of the group.

2014–2016: Line-up changes, "Oppa! You're Mine", Fall Into Temptation, "Skip" and "I Want To Know Your Mind"[]

On June 4, 2014, it was announced that Jungbin would not be participating in the group's upcoming comeback due to health issues.[1]

On June 11, 2014, Jerry was officially introduced as the group's newest member with the release of the second music video teaser for their third digital single, "Oppa, You're Mine", which was released on June 12.[2]

On January 4, 2015, Tahiti released their second mini album Fall Into Temptation along with its title track "Phone Number". Jungbin and Jin did not participate in the comeback and presumed to have left the group sometime afterwards. Tahiti continued as a five-member group with the release of their digital singles "Skip" on November 10, 2015, and "I Want To Know Your Mind" on May 23, 2016.

2017–2018: Jisoo's departure and disbandment[]

On March 15, 2017, the agency announced that Jisoo had been diagnosed with panic disorder and depression, and she would sit out of the group's activities starting with their "Tahiti Japan Live in Osaka" concert on March 17.[3] On December 8, 2017, Jisoo announced her departure from the group.[4]

On July 25, 2018, Jerry announced the group's disbandment after seven years since their debut.[5]

Aftermath[]

  • Keezy and Yeeun formed a duo called Verry. The former went by her birth name Dasom and the latter went by the stage name Sina. However, it is presumed that they disbanded silently due to inactivity.
  • Keezy is now a soloist under the stage name Soma.[6]
  • Ari was briefly part of the fictive girl group called Red Queen (Idol Master.KR). She played the character of Mina.[6]
  • Jisoo now works as a Pilates instructor.[7]
  • Jerry, under her birth name Sohyeon, is a member of the upcoming girl group 3piece.[8][9]
