GeeGu (지구) was a six-member girl group under GF Entertainment. They originally debuted as Gate9 on October 26, 2017 with the mini album Gate 1 : Paperwhite. They officially disbanded on February 18, 2021.[1]

History[]

2017–2018: Debut as Gate9[]

On September 26, 2017, Gate9 debuted as a nine-member girl group with the mini album Gate 1 : Paperwhite.

2019–2021: Rebranding as 'GeeGu', Moonlight[]

On January 31, 2019, NOS Entertainment (now known as GF Entertainment) made a Makestar project titled "GeeGu Comeback Support Project", officially confirming that the group rebranded and member Kady's departure from the group.[2] On April 14, after one and a half years of inactivity, it was announced that the group will make their first comeback with a new album on April 29.[3] On April 19, the mini album's title was revealed to be Moonlight. The mini album was officially released on April 29.

Throughout late 2019 and the whole of 2020, GeeGu was entirely inactive. The girl group was rumored to have disbanded. It wasn't until February 12, 2021 that GF Entertainment announced the disbandment of GeeGu.[1]
