Ravi (라비) is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter and producer under GROOVL1N. He is a former member of the boy group VIXX and their sub-unit VIXX LR.
He made his solo debut on January 9, 2017 with his first mini album R.eal1ze.
Career[]
2012: Debut with VIXX[]
He debuted as a member of VIXX on May 24, 2012 with the group's first single album "Super Hero".
2017: Solo debut[]
Ravi made his solo debut on January 9, 2017 with his first mini album R.eal1ze.
2019: Departure from Jellyfish Entertainment, launch of GROOVL1N[]
On May 23, 2019, Jellyfish Entertainment announced Ravi's departure from the label after deciding not to renew his contract. It was also clarified that he will continue to promote as a member of VIXX.[1]
On June 26, Ravi announced the start of his own hip-hop label called GROOVL1N.[2]
2023: Departure from VIXX[]
On April 11, Jellyfish Entertainment announced that Ravi had departed from VIXX.[3]
Personal life[]
Military enlistment[]
On May 1, 2022, Ravi revealed that he would be stepping down from the fourth season of KBS 2TV's variety program 2 Days & 1 Night in order to enlist in the military.[4]
On October 7, 2022, GROOVL1N announced that Ravi would enlist for his military service as a public service worker on October 27.[5]
On January 12, 2023, Ravi was accused of evading military service through receiving a false medical diagnosis of epilepsy from a neurologist. His agency has yet to confirm the details of the allegations.[6] On March 6, it was announced that his arrest warrant has been dismissed, although he admitted to the charges.[7] On April 11, Ravi attended the first trial on charges of violating the Military Service Act, with the prosecution requesting a two-year prison sentence.[3]
