Suga (슈가; also known as Agust D when solo) is a South Korean rapper-songwriter, producer and musician under BigHit Music. He is the lead rapper of the boy group BTS.

He released his first mixtape, Agust D, on August 16, 2016. He then made his official solo debut with his first full-length album D-Day on April 21, 2023.

Career[]

Pre-debut[]

When he lived in Daegu, his hometown, Suga was an underground rapper under the name of "Gloss".

2013–2016: BTS, Agust D[]

On June 13, 2013, he debuted as a member of BTS, with the single album "2 Cool 4 Skool".

On December 9, 2013, he had an emergency operation. Suga was in Japan to complete a program abroad. He had to go suddenly to the hospital due to stomach pain, which turned out to be an appendicitis attack. After this diagnosis, he quickly returned to Korea for surgery. His agency Big Hit Entertainment also told Newsen, "Suga was operated on early in the morning. After his surgery, he will recover and immediately resume the program." Even if this incident affected the fans, they supported SUGA, and patiently waited for his return.

On December 24, 2013, while preparing to perform a Bangtan Bom for Christmas, Suga was re-affected by an infection near appendicitis.

On January 6, 2014 he came back to BTS to monitor the group's performances in Japan.

On August 16, 2016, under the name Agust D, he released his first mixtape of the same name.

On March 31, it was announced that Suga will be having his own solo documentary, Suga: Road To D-Day, which will be airing on both Weverse and Disney+.[3]

On April 3, BigHit announced that Suga will make his solo debut with D-Day on April 21.[4] Additionally, he will be releasing a pre-release single titled "People Pt.2" on April 7 featuring IU.[5]
