Sung Jong (성종) is a South Korean singer. He is the maknae of the boy group INFINITE and its sub-unit INFINITE F.

He made his solo debut on March 13, 2023 with the single album "The One".

Career[]

2018–2019: Radio endeavours[]

Sung Jong worked as a radio DJ host for his own program "Lee Sungjong's Midnight Black" on EBS for 10 months. The show aired from the 27th of August 2018 to the 15th of June 2019 every week from Monday to Saturday at midnight.[1] He had several guests including INFINITE's members Woo Hyun and Dong Woo who came to promote their solo albums.

2021: Contract renewal, YouTube channel[]

On June 9, 2021, it was revealed that he had renewed his contract with Woollim Entertainment once more after 11 years.[2]

Sung Jong has been posting videos on INFINITE's official YouTube channel starting from August 2021 called "What is Sungjong doing ?" and has teased fans about his own upcoming YouTube channel ever since.[3]

2022–2023: Departure from Woollim and new agency, solo debut with "The One"[]

On January 24, 2022, it was announced that Sung Jong had left Woollim after being with the company for 13 years. However, he will continue to be a member of INFINITE.[4]

On September 5, Sung Jong signed an exclusive contract with SPK Entertainment.[5]

On March 8, 2023, it was announced that Sung Jong will make his solo debut on March 13 with the single album "The One".[6]

2024: Lawsuit against SPK Entertainment and departure[]

On January 16, 2024, Sung Jong announced that he notified SPK Entertainment a termination of his exclusive contract back in late December 2023 as he didn't receive proper support and payment for his activities. Additionally, he plans to take legal action against the company.[7]

On March 30, it was announced that Sung Jong's exclusive contract with SPK Entertainment had been terminated.[8]

Military service[]

On July 29, 2019, Sung Jong revealed that he had enlisted in the army.[9] He was discharged on May 8, 2021.[10] He served as a public service worker.

  • He is wellknown for his phrase "When you have many thoughts, have a lemon candy" from the Tooniverse program "The Unlimited Show".
  • He has a scoliosis.
  • He has a younger brother.
  • He had a teddy bear whose name was Sung Kyu (like INFINITE's leader), and he would beat him whenever he needed to release his stress.
  • He said during one of INFINITE's TV program that he was sad as he didn't have a lot of memory from going out with high school friends because his agency wouldn't let him go to school often when he was a trainee.
  • He is famous for his girl group dance covers since INFINITE's debut.
  • He can easily memorise and reproduce a dance just after having seen a video of it once.
