Moon Bin (문빈; also stylized as Moonbin) was a South Korean singer, lyricist, model and actor under Fantagio. He was one of the main dancers and vocalists of the boy group ASTRO and was a member of its sub-unit Moonbin & Sanha.

Career[]

2016: Debut with ASTRO[]

Moon Bin made his debut as a member of ASTRO on February 23, 2016, with their debut mini album Spring Up.

2018–2019: "FM201.8-04Hz : Language" and acting endeavors[]

On April 30, 2018, he released the collaboration single "Language" with Weki Meki's Suyeon as a part of the Fantagio music project FM201.8.

On March 13, 2019, it was confirmed that Moon Bin would take on his first acting role as an adult in the JTBC drama At Eighteen.[1] The first episode then aired on July 22nd of the same year.

2020–2022: Show Champion, first lead role, and debut with Moonbin & Sanha[]

On March 1, 2020, Moon Bin, alongside fellow member Sanha and VERIVERY's Kangmin, were announced to be the new MCs for the music show Show Champion with their first episode airing on March 4.[2]

On March 12, it was reported that Moon Bin was being considered for what would be his first lead role in the web drama The Mermaid Prince.[3] It was then officially confirmed on March 16.[4] The first episode then aired on April 14 with the last episode airing on May 29.

On September 14, he debuted as a member of ASTRO's first sub-unit, Moonbin & Sanha, with the mini album In-Out.

On October 25, 2022, it was announced that the MC trio will host their last episode as MCs on Show Champion, which was aired on October 26.[5]

Personal life[]

Hiatus[]

On November 12, 2019, Fantagio announced that Moon Bin would be going on hiatus as while he was preparing for the then upcoming comeback, he visited the doctor and was told to get sufficient rest and treatment.[6]

Death[]

On April 19, 2023, Moon Bin was found dead in his residence in the Gangnam district of Seoul by his manager. His agency chose not to share the exact cause of death.[7] On April 21, Fantagio announced that his funeral procession would happen the next day. Both the funeral procession and burial site were kept private as per his family's wishes.[8]

On June 4, Fantagio announced that they prepared a long-term memorial space in Gukcheongsa Temple at Namhansangseong starting from June 7 at the request of his family.[9] The memorial, which was relocated to Seonunsa Temple on December 2, eventually closed down on December 3.[10]
